Quote from Howell Mountain customer.
Our experience with St. McAire, UCD-1, is that it is a dirty clone, and hence prone to being a weedy grower, huge clusters. It may even be virused for all we know. But, that being said we like the vines. Caveat they require especially great farming, to position shoots, drop crop etc. to 1-1/2 clusters per shoot

Clone 1 is a bit of a weed, but it has been quite successful as a blender for Napa Valley mountain wines.
There is a Saint Macaire FPS 03 clone available according to National Grape Registry.
