What is Enologix? Enologix is a wine technology and informatics company based in Sonoma, CA that designs predictive analytics for luxury wine growing. The company sells grape and wine quality indices, models, software and consulting products. Enologix created the first algorithms that predict grape harvest dates, grading new wines, digital blends, and future market price, volume and taste scores. The most important metric among winemakers are digital blends and a taste index which predicts 100-point scores of consumer critics. Our models and metrics, coupled with our QMS software helps winemakers scale quality, volume and bottle prices. Our system allows wine companies to protect wine quality and increase sales.
Enologix uses this information to advise winemakers optimize farming strategies, fermentation practices, oak strategy, cellar operations, blending, bottling and releasing wines to market.
Who developed Enologix? As with any great discovery it was a team effort between winemakers and faculty. Winemaker, Leo McCloskey created the idea of quality recognition software in 1989. He tapped fragrance expert Dr. Susanne Arrhenius to help with color, flavor and fragrance analyses. Dr. Marshall Sylvan, then head of the Department of Mathematics at University of California Santa Cruz, helped with statistical models. Between 1989 and 1992 a dozen winemakers such as, Dick Graff, Chalone Wine Group, and Paul Draper at Ridge Vineyard adopted the system for their winemaking. The result was an average 5-point rise in national critics’ ratings. In 1993 McCloskey launched today’s Enologix. Now, 20 years later Paul Draper of Ridge Vineyards and over fifty (50) other winemakers around the world rely on Enologix to help them make world class wines.
What is Enologix today?

Enologix is constantly adding new wines to its database to keep ahead of changes and trends in bottled wine marketplace
How can software improve the quality of my wine?
Predicting future taste quality requires more than chemistry and a phenolics panel! With the Enologix software (QMS) you’re able to organize your lots by Style, Quality and Aging potential, then improve your quality through more informed decision making. With the online advantage, you can execute timely wine making decisions over a several locations from your desktop. QMS is rapidly becoming the product of choice with over 117,000 grape and wine records as of July 31, 2013.
The software includes digital blending tools that forecast quality (allowing for earlier and better blending decision making); provides the capability to qualify lots earlier than traditional sensory evaluation methods; contains a powerful viticultural and winemaking data warehouse; and includes user-friendly statistical modeling that helps you determine the precise impacts of your standard operating procedures (such as viticultural practices, equipment usage, fermentation and maceration strategies, treatments, additions, winery design, sensory evaluation, etc.) on ultimate quality. Through QMS, a winery can easily manage vast amounts of data impacting every significant activity that affects product quality, positioning, and sales.
Is Technical Support available? It’s all part of the program. Enologix utilizes a team of viticulturists, winemakers, and wine marketers who help clients maximize their usage of QMS and assist with product development. From the vineyard, through the winery and on to the consumer, Enologix can provide support every step of the way.
